Keeping Connections Consistent Across Your App

Apps often rely on multiple flows that all connect to the same external system.

A single app might include one flow for creating records, another for updating them, another for retrieving data, and several others handling different parts of the same process. Even though the flows are separate, they may all depend on the same connection.

That makes connection consistency important.

One Change Can Affect Many Flows

A common example is moving an app from one environment to another.

You might build and test an app using a sandbox connection and later switch it to a production environment. If the app includes many flows, that connection may appear across multiple nodes and different parts of the app.

Changing only one of them can leave the app in a mixed state, where some flows point to one environment and others still point somewhere else.

That can quickly lead to confusing behavior and hard-to-track configuration issues.

Recognizing Related Connections

A better approach is to treat these connections as part of the wider app setup rather than as completely isolated settings.

When one connection is changed, the app can recognize that the same connection is being used elsewhere and make that visible to the user.

Instead of having to remember every flow and node that needs to be updated, you can immediately see that the change may need to apply more broadly.

Apply the Same Change Across the App

Once the related connections are identified, you can choose whether to apply the same update across the other flows and nodes in the app.

For example, if you switch one Salesforce flow from Sandbox to Production, you can choose to carry that same change across the rest of the app.

This is especially useful in apps with many connected flows, where manually checking every connection would be time-consuming and easy to miss.

Keeping Environments in Sync

Connection changes are often part of a larger environment change.

Typical scenarios include:

  • Moving from Sandbox to Production
  • Switching between test and live environments
  • Updating credentials or endpoints
  • Replacing one shared connection with another
  • Reconfiguring an integration used across several flows

In all of these cases, keeping the app aligned around the same connection helps reduce configuration errors.

More Control with Less Manual Checking

The goal is not to force every connection to change automatically.

Instead, it is to make related connections visible and give you control over whether the same update should be applied across the app.

This makes large connection changes easier to manage while still letting you decide exactly when they should be synchronized.
